Are Black Friday and Cyber Monday Computer Deals Really Worth It?

– Kyle Kontney

Every year we are shoved into Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Every year there are stories of trampled people, fist fights and anger blended with a healthy dose of sleep deprivation and exhaustion. What for? Christmas? May I remind you that Jesus was the most unmaterialistic man ever? Well that is another subject.

Regardless, there are deals on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While tempting, we want to educate you on the truth about Black Friday and Cyber Monday computers.

I have never seen a Black Friday and Cyber Monday computer that was worth the "so called" savings. Most "deals" are on the most bottom-feeder computers. Seriously, think about it. How could a $249 laptop be as good as a $549 laptop? It is not and not worth your time.

So you say "but I don't need anything fancy", ok but you do need it to work well even if you are surfing the web or checking e-mail. Every year people come in and try to have us fix their brand new Black Friday and Cyber Monday computer because it runs so poorly. They always are under powered, not setup properly and are a disappointment right from the box. So even for light and periodical use, the $300 and under laptops and PC are garbage and are not to be recommended at all. Yes we know you don't need anything fancy, but it needs to work well. The sub-$300 is no good. Not even for Aunt Martha! Stay away from the under $300 laptops. To get something with some real speed, you will need to spend $500 or more. Choose Intel processor. See our Tips and Advice article labeled Two Grades of Computers.

Now let's talk about durability. In addition to the Black Friday and Cyber Monday computers being slow, they are not designed to last. In fact, our back room is full of computers that are less than 1 year old and are dead, yes dead! The truth is the computer industry is that it is divided into residential grade and business grade. Residential Grade is designed to last 1 to 2, maybe 3 years. Business Grade is designed to last 5 to 7 years. Business Grade Laptops and Desktops are NOT available at retail stores. Computers that are sold through Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals are not only residential grade but they are the lowest level of residential grade. So unless you want to replace your computer every 2 years for $300, we recommend that you avoid Black Friday and Cyber Monday computer as a whole.

Honestly, there are so many reasons why to stay away from Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I barely touched on the problems of Black Friday and Cyber Monday computers. If you want to learn more, call us at 262.662.0811

So what do we recommend? Purchase business grade through Kontney Computer Group, have it properly setup and maintained and enjoy years of sturdiness, speed and durability. Period.
